why is it...
« on: 21 May 2007, 10:34:26 »

As soon as Ronnie goes i need advice on a project...

For £350, hopefully including transport, what does everyone think about that ex-plod car?

Confirmed its not lpg, but is "duel-fuel" he said it was just a model  :-?  :-/

'99 on a T - 58k miles which i think is bull personally, but could have been a London only marked car...

might have an LSD, got an AR35, Heads, cams,

Although tbh i would like to get it running for a sale...

Thoughts / advice anyone?  :y

Oh its got no tax or MOT and is not sorn  :-?  :o

Tunnie, why do you want to make it a runner???

That car is a breaker only, and the fact it is not sorn'd does concern me.

Don't pay more than £250 maximum!

I talked about this car with Fin yesterday, and he would not even pay that much, but was in agreement that it is only good for parts.

Speaking personally, I can understand why Tunnie is thinking about getting it running. He obviously likes a challenge and is curious to see if he can get it fired up. There's not much challenge in breaking it, although obviously from a financial point of view it would be a nice little earner.

It's a heart vs. head decision - but IMHO he needs to see it up close and personal before deciding.

Personally I think there is quite a challenge in breaking up a V6.
Certainly hard work!

To me head v heart doesn't come into it. This is a business decision and far greater reward for breaking.

Thanks for the thoughts guys, way I see it... breaking is the best way forward. Not done anything like that before so could be fun!

Plus although students tend to be well off, could be expensive getting it running, various bits here and there runs to the scrappy ect... so pulling it apart sounds like the best option!

If i paid £250 + £60 ish for transporting it back, is there much money to be had? - Remember I have no engine hoist or anything like that, just the halfords tool set a few other bits.

Space might be an issue... i could take over one side of the garage, depends how long it takes to flog the bits. I wanna store my Omega in there while i am in Europe.

Never broken before so prices for best bits i see are (correct if wrong!)

HIDS - £50

3.0 Cams - No idea, £70??
3.0 Heads - again no idea....

AR35...£75 maybe?

Interior £75.
Alloys (Reflection style) £100?

If I do break, it will have to be over a weekend.... get it done fast i think. Like what Fin did to that MV6 a while back.

Anyone fancy helping me pull it apart? Get something to keep off it for your troubles  :y

at that money it sounds good!

You will need a hoist to remove the engine...

Let me see, ive sold in abundance over the last year...

Front and rear lights, bumpers, wings, windows, electric windown mechanisims, sunroof mechanisims, airbags, dash boards, dash switches, toolkits, tyres, wheels, bonnets, boots, interior lights, fog lights, ecus, throttle bodues, coolant tanks, radiators, speedos, fobs, patrol tanks, petrol caps, discs, driveshafts blah blah blah blah....thats before you go near the engine!

Im sure you will get the job done with some OOF help.

Thing is i tend to break them, get rid of them and store the parts...i sold a window yesterday from a car i broke in August.

Can't imagine the body panels being worth being white, think i might have to leave this one until i can source more space, which i might be able to do soon  :-X
