Got a SATA hard drive that I need to transfer info from to a replacement PC. Would this do the trick or do I need something else. TIA

On the assumption that the replacement PC has SATA  can you not just plug the old drive into a spare socket on the motherboard?

yep.. you will rarely need it if you are not a pc technician..
