This is offered as a closing post on climate/environmentalism, as it is clear that some members and admins find it tedious to have to read my posts, or simply feel that they get in the way of the Lads Mags/X factor posts. Those that do read my posts them seem to be divided into: those hell-bent on name-calling (swivel-eyed, right-wing, nut-job denier) and those who simply tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about without providing any evidence to back up their claims. Of course, there are a few who agree with me and have supported me, and to those I extend my humble gratitude.
My reason for posting these threads (and bear in mind that I didn’t even start the Horizon or Climate Sceptics threads!) is that I believe that is incumbent upon someone to demonstrate that this issue has huge implications for us all. Of course, I don’t mean the climate, but rather the manner in which what I believe to be false claims will be used by existing and future administrations. For example, a cross-party panel of MPs has recommended the adoption of TEQs (Transferable Energy Quotas), which will be given weekly to every adult in the country and will need to be surrendered every time you fill the car, pay a gas bill and, probably, take a foreign holiday. Essentially, energy rationing.
http://witteringwitney.blogspot.com/2011/02/scam-begats-scam.htmlInterestingly, they note that there will be no great contribution from alternative energy sources, and that coal powered stations will be closed and essentially not replaced. Nuclear energy, then? Nope. On page 37, they say that nuclear stations may well be bad for the climate and, anyway, they point to ‘dwindling uranium resources’ thus underlining their desire not to have them.
So, they say we will not get any new power and we shall have to struggle on with what we’ve got. Which means rationing. As I can’t see any other countries following this route, I feel that they would, if they had the opportunity, commit the UK to a dark and bleak future.
Now, all this is based on IPCC Reports, which many scientists have routinely debunked. Yet, the reports are still used to prop-up radical plans like the TEQs.
Since I believe much of the global warming fear mongering to be baseless, I find it hard to accept that my children will grow up in a country which is, at best, a third-world shadow of its former self.
It strikes me that many, perhaps too many, on this forum would rather let the politicians get on with it and, like sheep, follow them into a most uncertain future. I say that such an attitude is more likely to bring about this ruination. You can be sure, though, that were they to be forced to sell their Omega, have fewer showers, and live in a chilly house in order to save enough energy quotas to take their kids for a week in Spain, they would be rather put out, to say the least. However, I believe that such a situation is not impossible. It is a situation that is made more possible by people ignoring the onward march of the green movement.
So that is why I have posted climate threads on here. It is clear, as I noted earlier, that others do not share my views. That’s fine by me, though I could do without their nastiness. In time, I believe that my view will be proved to be largely correct. I trust we still have an industrial country by then.
I do not wish to be part of a forum where I have to think twice about posting lest someone may consider it boring. Neither would I wish to continually defend my posts.
I have therefore decided to withdraw from posting any climate threads, as a precursor to leaving the forum entirely.
Should any member wish to contact me away from the forum, they can send me a PM request for an email contact.
I am sorry to have been such an obvious burden to the admins.
