Oil and south african politics aside, Mr Mugabe will as likely be dead before too long. Gaddafi has got about 15years on 'Uncle Bob', so he'll need sorting first. He had due warning about 20 years ago, and only recently been 'misbehaving'. If he doesn't regain some sort of control very soon, someone else (us and our special friends) will have to sort himit out.

Oil.

I refer the honourable member to the reply I posted in an earlier thread:

I'm not convinced that oil, or rather lack of it, comes into the question as far as Zimbabwe is concerned. Rather, the West has felt for a long time now that any African adventure would be suicidal due to the racial and rich/poor overtones. When the chips are down, the African Union would always back one of its own. However, the northern African states are seen as more Arabic than Black African and do not command the same support. However, that's merely my opinion.

Yes, I agreed with that the first time and do so once more.

The tribal system and the tendency for the ruling elite of most of those nations to line their own pockets, conspires to preclude any realistic intervention.
