Lost post (mail)
« on: 22 March 2011, 18:50:32 »

Royal mail, always post containing cheques, either from us or to us, some reliable sources, some not so but have now agreed to pay us by bank transfer after allegedly sending 3 cheques. No real problem with other items that we know of, but it's happening too often to be coincidence.

Having said that a cheque is no good to anyone but the payee surely? Non have been cashed by anyone else that we know of.

Recorded delivery is no more reliable, in fact it's guaranteed to be delayed by up to and in some cases over 10 days using that service and insurance covering failed delivery is a joke note even covering the stop cheque fee.

Useless!

Common experience? Or just us?   :-/

i've never lost anything in the post, and cheques can be cashed anywhere (usually for a fee)  :o

i seriously doubt Royal Mail is at fault - maybe once (tho unlikely) but 3 times? someones either not sending the cheque or its the wrong address  :o

They can doctor the cheque or go to somewhere that will cash the cheque for them. much safer to send it via bank transfer anyway :y

With all due deference to the posties we have on here, royal mail is a terrible service. Varche was commenting last night on how the railways have really gone downhill, with exhorbitant fares and poor customer service. The price of postage has risen dramatically over the last few years (percentage wise) but the service has declined and customer services is a joke. They are both on the same downward spiral.

In both cases, it's not the person who deals with your complaint who is at fault, but the rules put in place to make sure that there are no refunds without a letter from God.

Had a running battle with Royal Mail for years over opened mail. Probably 75% of all cards delivered to my address have been peeled open just enought to see what is inside. All of our friends and relatives now know not to send anything of value to my address. What really pigs me off is that they will always fob you off with the response that "only the sender can report the supected failure in delivery or tampering" this is a crock as the common denominator is our local sorting office. When my Mum died a few years back we had practically every condolence card opened !! Presumably some low-life thought they may have been birthday cards or some such with money inside.

royal mail has around 160,000 staff which basically means even a small percentage of rogue employees may equate to a large amount of people unfortunately

i can only defend myself as a postman, since i dont trust anyone at all in general, i know i have a few pals at royal mail who may well be as trustworthy as i am but i cant guarantee it, and thats a damn shame, but thats society, i know of at least one person in our office who, although no proof, i wouldnt at all be surprised if i was told they'd stole from some mail

if your postperson isnt doing their job properly, you should report them to royal mail, not just for the sake of complaining or getting any compo (unless you deserve it for whatever reason, ie lost mail) but for the sake of trying to improve the service

We have Danny, met with contempt in effect....  :-/. It's a cul de sac complaint service. But your right of course.

Our first post man was a Children's Entertainer, used his sign written van to park at the top of the road and deliver from there. Odd fellow, used to shout down his mobile swearing his head off outside your front door as he posted letters. Often to the wrong house.

Next guy seemed almost normal, so he left in a couple of months, current chap doesn't speak English. Least not the he let's on. No missed deliveries from the neighbours with these last two.
