The little fella has fallen off a swing in a local park today.  It was immediately obvious that his left wrist wasn't too healthy.  Off to local A&E, expecting the wait from hell.
Booked in, sat down and were immediately called in to see the triage nurse.  She immediately dosed him up with calpol etc to settle him as he's distraught at this point.
She takes us straight down to Xray where we go in virtually straight away.
Xray completed, back to waiting room for 10 mins until nurse comes to say that he's cracked a bone and that a nurse will be along shortly to set it for him.
10 mins, nurse comes, puts on a temporary cast, makes us an appointment at the bone clinic to have it set properly after the swelling has died down and off we go.
All done in just under an hour!  Well done countess of chester! :y

And the boys got a teddy each for being brave too! :y

thats good to hear  our local hospital has a first class childrens section always been very good when weve had to take one of the kids there :y  hope your little one has a speedy recovery :y

Much as the NHS appears to be in trouble, I do have to say (from personal experience) that the front line staff do an amazing job considering the obstacles that are put in front of them, and I am quite frankly surprised that they aren't all in the loony bin from the daily stress they encounter.

Top marks to anybody in that sector, and I won't hear a bad word said against them.

2 of my best friends are frontline nursing staff and I spent many years working for the NHS.  I agree that the staff who actually 'do' are fantastic but are seriously let down by pen pushers and penny pinching. :(
And previous experience of our emergency dept have meant attending for treatment at teatime and being told to go home to bed and we wouldn't miss our place in the queue. :(

Yeah, i think the NHS is great. It'd be even better if its resources weren't wasted on the dreggs every Friday and Saturday night, well, just about all the time now, and the junkies, can't leave them out.

Chuffed that you didn't have a long wait . I cant think of anything worse than an  A&E that's crowded with a long waiting time with a poorly child All the best to the little one,

Exactly the reason I don't want to rock the boat at my local hospital... When we have to visit A&E they're fantastic!

normal waiting times at our local a.e are 4 hours and there is always no one around ! its like a ghost hospital !

I think NHS staff do the best they can given the restraints put on them by whichever government happens to be in power. I've had no problem using them over the last year or so but there have been times over the years when I've had to wait hours at A&E for treatment and months for appointments.
