I'm pleased to inform you that many of the locations are genuine. The people (??) are, however, copies of a stereotype that does have one or two examples in real life.

That's about all really.  If you know anyone who enjoys watching it, I suggest they be put down

This is a perfect example of why some folk don't watch telly anymore. What with multiple freeview channels quality will dip & internet providing alternative entertainment only the feeble of mind will consider such bilge worthwhile viewing.

This actually caused me pain it was that earth shatteringly cringeingly embarrassing to watch. I played on the Internet hoping to miss it but it went through my head like a dentist drill. So much so that I couldn't work out what excuse they had found to put these Morons on tv. Is it some sort of competition? A documentary? What? Please tell me it's a piss take. I mean it must be a piss take on a piss take.... A double agent piss take perhaps?

And that's before we get on to the intended audience. Bloke sat next to me thought it hilarious.

I was refused permission to elbow him in the face.  family apparently. :-/.      


I've spent time in that neck of the woods and they aren't like that at all! Not even close. Surely the indigenous cant be pleased?

Thank you Chris,  this programme is utter bull*hit.   Hopefully most people realise that Essex is not like that at all & neither are it's normal residents

It is, but they're most of the way through concreting it over to make a car park for London. Should be good once it's finished.

They did a similar thing with Essex Wives some time back. Although they magnified a few individuals to make it quite unrepresentative of the whole county, the individuals do exist.  One set live less than a 1/4 mile from me!

I took the family to Ibiza several years ago, just after the "Ibiza Uncovered" series was on tv.  Same thing.  A delightful family holiday destination was painted as being a hell-hole (or Utopia if you were under 30years old and single and wanted to brain damage yourself).  You could find what they covered if you turned stones over, but the place was actually delightful if you didn't turn over stones.

IIRC correctly same Director did Essex Wives and Ibiza Uncovered.  Only way is Essex is not him but same genre taken a step further.

I stumbled on this one barren night while surfing Sky and I have to admit it had me totally confused.... :-/
Real or not I quickly continued on my way making a mental note to avoid  it if I ever came across it again.

Well that has destroyed a few illusions.

I (there must be others on here too scared to admit it) have actually watched parts of several episodes and thought them very funny. I thought that all people from Essex must be like that.

Last night they went to buy a Mini and the two lads sat in the front making driving noises while the salesman watched speechless.

There is going to be a pool party soon - maybe in Marbella. Now when you go to Marbella there are definitely people like that there. I watched a chap wearing a medallion in a Rolls Royce convertible drive around a roundabout several times raising and lowering his roof to show off.

Is it scripted? Do the participants know how ridiculous they look, what do they do for money? So many unanswered questions!
