Just been on skidpan
« on: 21 June 2011, 20:59:53 »

Ahaaaa!

Just been on the skidpan at Durham police HQ. I knew they had Omegas. When I got there, there was a couple of 4 pots, but they gave us a 2.6 Elite to have a play with. It was nocturno blue the same as my Elite. I was trying to prise bits off without them seeing but to no avail!

Anyway, they had a double din blanking plate where the stereo was, and a switch to turn the ABS on and off (which also did the TC, despite the existing switch). The car seemed in quite good nick (apart from the wheels and tyres - which I did my best to make even worse! :y) and only had about 51k on the clock. Seems a shame, like a waste of a car. I would've filmed it, but i was told in no uncertain terms that nothing like that can be put on the web!!

The skidpan was fun, but after the first skid, I don't think it's that realistic as the car doesn't behave like it would in real life (if you had road legal tyres that is!)

I was trying my best to drift it round and round which I did until I did a mssive spin and conked the engine out going backwards in drive!! Whoops! :y

it must have something to do with the weight of the car as i had a go in a skid car some years ago in an old sierra(met plod) and that acted exactally as you would expect..think everyone should have a go on a skid car great fun :y

No I mean once you induce the skid then correct it it just fishtails all over the place. Now i'm not saying I'm a great driver or anything but surely a road car on the road wouldn't do this as much as it would have more grip due to having tread on the tyres.
