wouldnt have bothered with the 2.5 tbh. you will spend a lot of money to get the power output up to the same as a standard 3.0/3.2. Imo the 3.2 would be the one to go for - much better exhaust manifolds, programmeable ECU....... ;)

3.0 would be best choice, 3.2 would cause issues with DBW in kit car? Have to fart around with throttle position sensors and such.  Should imagine 3.0 would be easier to setup  :-/

Still, 2.5 in something that light won't hang around!

yeah i did mention i would like a 3.0 but it was a first come basis :) and to be honest it was £60!!! :P cant complain or be fussy.

as for exhausts and ecu , well im making my own headers :) and using megasquirt :)
But yeah i get your drift with the whole easier to get 3 thing.

and it certainly will not hang around ;)

more pics to come soon of my rebuild and porting etc etc :)  decided to find someone with a vacuum former and make a perspex front cover ;)

The alternator will need moving to make way for the steering column!

I used a 45 Amp, Bedford Rascal alternator, positioned top right (looking from the front of the engine). I took the original pulley off and inserted a boss giving a smaller mounting hole to suit the shaft, then the aux belt runs over the top of the water pump and down to the crank.
wrap a piece of string around the belt run and visit Halfrauds for the nearest belt.

Bob's your uncle.

If you need any more clues give me a shout.

My choice would be a 3.2 with its' forged crank. Easy enough to fit a non-DBW throttle body if required.. or individual TBs. Give the heads a good skimming to up the compression ratio and a bit of porting...

Not that I know anything about doing this, but how do you make/weld on the fixing points for the engine mounts and get it all lined up/level etc?

Is it a case of sitting the engine in on blocks of wood, packing it out, taking all measurements/levels etc, adjusting then welding in place? or something else?

Thanks

Ooh, you genius - I've been considering the Haynes Roadster, the V6 seemed like a silly idea though... I take my hat off to you!

yeah pretty much mate, i level'd mine up with the sump off and put wood under it sitting on top of the rails and then went about doing it that way :) pretty trial and error tbh :) but luckily i've had no error so no complaints here :)
