Unemployment
« on: 15 July 2011, 12:35:44 »

Can someone explain to me how the number of people unemployed falls every month, but the number of people claiming Jobseekers increases.

Surely they must rise or fall in tandem.

Am I missing something or are the goverment using Statistics, or Lies ::)

It is my guess this is due to not everybody that is unemployed being entitled to Job Seekers Allowance, for example if you are registered as self employed, been a company director, you are not entitled to claim.

So, everyone who gets a job is ex self employed, while those who lose theirs go onto jobseekers? :-?

Perhaps it is  immigrants on other benefits who are taking up the available positions, while those who pay tax, and national insurance go  onto jobseekers when thay lose theirs. :-?

Whichever way you look at it, it doesn't stack up :o

We've got plenty of our own welfarers/lazy people/etc or whatever you want to call them before the finger should be pointed at immigrants IMO.

There's good and bad everywhere, but in my experience the vast majority of foreigners who come here, get stuck in and work. And good luck to them.

But 3 out of every 4 job vacancies is being filled by migrants. So its valid to question if thats OK while there are very large numbers of British workers unemployed. ;)

Assuming that the british 'workers' can be harrised getting off their rears and declining the benefit handouts....    ::)

I can only talk about Stockton, the town in which I work..........anyone want a Job?, must be able to pass a CRB check and willing to work flexible hours and have an interest in working with disabled children......Can we get Male workers? not enough :( I can find work for self employed or those whe prefer to work for an agency, just ask.

We don't get applications from immigrant workers, they are all employed doing the Jobs the locals do not want..... :-X

I appreciate that the work is for a limited market but we struggle to fill posts, I assume it is the same in any area of the country...

Britain isnt  lazy country Geoff. We were the workshop of the world, and taught the world how to work. I think H21 has alluded to the problem though. We are breeding a generation who have been given the green light to not having to bother working, as they can get by on taxpayer handouts (especially if they are prepared to tell a few fibs) and mark my words - the current influx of hard workers who are grabbing the opportunities presented to them will, in the not too distant future be the hard line union acivists demanding this that and the other. I have already seen signs and examples of it.
Once they become as comfortable and blase about their new found living standards as some British people already are, they will wake up to the fact that they are having the p1ss taken out of them, and thats when the trouble will start.
The answer is to put our own people back in the position (and relearn the British mentality) that if you want something you have to work for it. When that happens the British could easily be known across the world as extremely hard working and entrepeunerial people - as they were for many a year. ;)
In short, dont wait for people to decline the handouts. Remove the handouts and then they will remember how to graft at least as hard as anyone else. :y

I agree entirely. But with a pathetic government (conservative - I don't think so), that's just not going to happen. Oh if I had my way this country would be unrecognisable in so many ways. But too many people 'know their rights' for that to happen.

Yep - so much needs to change, but giving 3 out of every 4 jobs available to recent arrivals wont take anything in the right direction imo. Were a soft touch in so many ways, and nedd to toughen up in so many ways. :y

most of the construction agencies i do work for are not allowed to use east europeans now due to the amount of on site accident claims and the poor workmanship that results in heavy costs putting it right. i have had loads of calls in the last 2 weeks for work which in the next couple of weeks i will be doing all being well. cheap labour is not the long term answer, there has to be commitment on both sides of the fence, which there is not as everyone seems to be employed by agencies to save money but then lack in the skills to be more productive resulting in loss of trade. once the unions get involved in the companies and start their demands its just a slow spiral downhill and everyone loses out.
