hard day..
« on: 19 September 2011, 14:38:39 »

today , the system group decided to change the password policies.. they demonstrated a new password policy and also made our passwords all expire >:( >:(

so it begins.. I cant reach any of my mails from mobile, then job machines.. working services .. needed to change all of them.. after a while , I got the message account locked :o :( what the ....

besides I'm having trouble with my own password , the users start to call and tell they also cant reach bla bla.. I said f*ck off briefly ;D

finally I cleaned the mess mid afternoon , although my mobile still cant connect wifi.. but can take/send mails with the same password :-?

now %99 of users can invoke remote exe (ie on another host) files and those exe files can create temp files on local machines to transfer to ms office , but fortunately/unfortunately 1 user and me cant ;D

Like most proper IT places, we have to follow the normal 30/60/90 rule.  Shame when you have several thousand servers to look after ;D

if the servers are on a domain not a problem.. but if you have declared numerous users and virtual users for some processes and didnt send a warning mail and suddenly changed everrthing on monday morning , you invite trouble ;D

90% of mine are Solaris/Linux/HP-UX, so no domains (NIS domains not allowed either).

Don't worry, I have methods and means to do it quickly ::)
