Ex-plod decommissioning - care & attention
« on: 09 August 2009, 19:56:29 »

Ever had any doubts as to the time, care, and attention the police mechanics use when returning Omegas to saleable condition?

I'm stripping the innards of mine, and this caught my eye - its on the O/S front bumper, where there was clearly a blue flasher fitted on the corners, outside shot (its the circle bit you can make out) here -

...and inside shot -

Was that a top up card? And where was it?

But lets face it I paid 2500 and it had just turned 3yrs old so you know.

O and by the way it wasn't de-commisioned properly the bloke bought it direct from the just after stickers were removed to get it cheaper  :y

Some sort of filler I think, but like my mum always said about scabs - don't pick at it...

And ah, OK... that'll explain the abundance of random stuff littered about the car... :y

Where was it?

What other bits did you find?

It's inside the front bumper, where the circle is on the photo.

Erm, apart from the obvious strobe bulbs and flashers, I'm finding all manner of random wiring tucked inside "out of the way".
Some of which will fit the strobe bulbs. *scratches chin* ;)

Some forces cut corners, and others do a good job. Some early Astra G's from TVP still had the rrof mounted pods that the light bar was affixed too. And more recently some of the Silver 2.0 DTI Astra G's from the Met in London still had siren speakers fitted. They are located where the foglights would go on the front bumper, on the left hand side (looking from front). Recently I saw a V70 at auction that still had the force's internet address on it. Seems a rather odd thing not to remove.
