Amazing ....
« on: 09 August 2009, 14:49:45 »

.... "200187" miles on the clock! It was quite a thrill when it actually clocked 200k, to see all those zeros was impressive!  The next target is 221000 for the next cambelt change! ::) ::) ::)

In 1995 I bought a 1986 Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia with 137,000 on the clock but sold it after about 6 months as I was fed up of spending money on it :(

Migs are better than Orions me thinks :y

I bought it from a dealer about this time last yaer and it had 167000 on the clock, so I thought 'no-one' would clock back to that, so I paid £995. The Boy done some bits early on  with his Tech2 and Serek changed the gear selector switch, Cambelt, oil, wter/oil/pollen filters, plugs unblocked the tubes etc etc a really good service. At 196000 he did the same again and in between plenty of oil changes (every 6k) and general maintenance. All in all, for over 30k's driving £1k to buy and less than £1k to run doing 1k miles a week, its probably is the and most reliable car I've had. Well pleased  :) :)

With the miles that I do I just can't afford to be without wheels and 'false economy' springs to mind. I start a new contract next week and will probably be doing between 1k and 2k per week i.e. Peterborough to Bristol/Andover/Bicester etc etc 2/3 times a week. Its cheaper than breaking down like I did in my Galaxy!  Serek is responsible though, he's the one that keeps it going, a brilliant Omega Mechanic :y, I just pay the bills! :'(
