It's news to me that solvents, surfactants and colourings are good for your hands!!?

What on earth are they talking about?

run out of car shampoo long ago. I let the Polish guys do mine. Better job inside and out in 15 mins that would take me a morning. Dont have the time. Or the back for that matter.

In the past if I was busy I go for car wash :-/ and what happened - they damaged the car a few times..

scratches everywhere inside- outside 


I swear after, no more .. if I cant wash, let stay dirty..

Fairy still can't be as bad as the floor scrubbing brush  I once saw an old dear 'washing' her car with.  :-?  :-?  :-?

Fairy Liquid used on paintwork to remove all traces of wax prior to carrying out any paintwork repairs!! 

Therefore not to be recommended for "everyday" car washing!!

washing up liquid rots the rubbers and causes leaks a bloke at halfords started to clean my windscreen with fairy to get rid of the grease as the new wipers wasnt cleaning properly i asked him to stop he said it wont do any damage  so i grab him by the throat and told him if he puts it on my car again ill make him drink the bottle ive  been banned from the store ever since not one of my best moves

Saw the car wash mob at the local Tesco wheel out a trolley load of Tesco Value washing up liquid the other day

Can't remember the name of the mob, but the sign says 'In conjuction with Tesco'.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with washing a car using washing up liquid, just as long as its not your own LOL
BTW, the kids around here turn up in little gangs offering to 'wash your car mister?' armed with a bucket (full of what resembles sump oil), sponge, washing up liquid and wait for it......... those sponge/green topped scourer pads!!! Gawd help us  !

I'm fortunate enough to have a workshop full of car cleaning products usually only avaliable to the trade through friends in the valeting/smart repair game.
    Despite this i've found, & those in the game agree that you can't go wrong with Halfords own brand car shampoo. I forget how much it costs as it lasts that long, a dollop in a bucket foams up really well. 8-)

i use the turtlewax shampoo, its ok but use too much youll never get rid of the bloody bubbles and dont use before a t-cut, makes it really hard to get back off. one of my friends used a brillo pad and was half way through before i turned up, no amount of tcut would help, he was doing a thorough job. left alone it may have ended up looking like a delorean for about an hour, before the rust set in.
