Has anyone used the EBC front brake disc upgrade for the Omega? Are they any good?

My 2.6 needs new discs soon so I was thinking of transplanting the discs from the 3.2 over to the 2.6 and fitting the EBC discs on the Elite. Does it make a difference and should I be using the Greenstuff or Redstuff pads?

Kev has green stuff pads and disc's on is omega and says there a lot better than standard.

someone on here runs redstuff too - i remember asking before as i could only find redstuff when i was looking :-/

I have used these on an MR2. Granted a lot lighter car but they are used in anger on track.

It depends on how hard you stamp on the brakes. The greens have excellent bite from cold, however if you take them on track then they could start fading. I have yet to try redstuff but the new compound yellows are a good compromise and take lots and lots of abuse.

I would say greenstuff would be relatively easy to cook on an Omega. :-/ Many complain about cooking them on light kit cars. Never tried it myself and, of course, it depends on what use you have in mind (sensible road / insane road / track).

Thanks for the replies. So I'm guessing that the EBC discs with the Redstuff pads is the way to go.

Anything else I need to consider?

Mick Dundee on here runs EBC red stuff pads and vented, grooved and drilled discs and seems very happy afaik.

 Considred them seriously when mine went, but remembered my old rule, try the stock factory set up from new first. With oe pads and vented discs i dont see the need for any further expense, with the possible exception of appearance that is.

The EBC discs looked brand new from what i saw of his car at the Newent meet. However Mick posted something about the red stuff pads needing some heat in them to work properly on first press of the pedal iirc. That and the expense put me off as i do alot of motorway miles.

redstuff need warming first, so really only suitable for track days, else one day may well catch you out

I work in Milton Keynes, and even driving like a complete prat, I need the entire grid to overly cook standard Tradeclub brakes.  Pretty sure some of the Newent attendees will confirm that the pads/discs are capable enough...

they stopped well enough...even with 4 fat bastards in the car

The brakes were not the limiting factor - there was more left in them, but OSF tyre was on the limit of grip

locals where putting wanted posters up when i left....same bloke in at least 2 diffarent omegas  one with 2 fat blokes in the car and a boot full tools i forgot to tell the driver about

My omega had cheap & nasty Mintex discs and pads and i and my brother in law managed to cook them very easily i swapped them out discs & pads for the VX ones and i never cooked them and i certainly dont drive slow!

The BMW needs new pads too :@ i bet BMW pads cost £50+
