Which Exhaust?

Tunnie and I bodged mine back together the other night, so its time for a new exhaust on the MV6.

As I see it, options are:

1) Eternalcar with 2yr warranty, about £130

2) Stainless, about £300+

3) Genuine GM, about £320


Up until recently, it would have been GM, but quality on those isn't great now.

Car is nearly 12yrs old, 160k on clock.

Eternalcar every time. Not that different in quality to genuine, and cheep.

Or.. If you know you're keeping the car long enough to get your money's worth, and don't mind a bit more noise, stainless.

Comparing the qauility between mine and father tunnies, GM has dropped a lot, that was back in 2007.....

Given its age and miles, and your tastes, i don't think stainless is the route for you, go Eternalcar and put money saved into fart gas conversion

Going by last weeks efforts, I'll use the old exhaust for practicing  :-[

In my defence, when welding, it helps if there is something metalic to weld to!

The bolts holding to the cat section look a bit nasty as well... ...better get some new drill bits methinks

Realistically, I will be able to buy 3 lots of eternal and still come in under stainless cost. Which, considing cars age......

Noise is my biggest concern.

Noise is my biggest concern.

That was my concern. Stainless probably not the best option then. My Eternal exhaust is a little noisier than the main dealer one Chrisgixer has fitted, but not to the tune of nearly 200 quid.

recently had to replace cat back on my 2.2 to get through mot. Had no time to get eternalcar so had walkers centres and GM rear box fitted. dissappointingly centres much noiser than blowing original pipes so ordered eternalcar centres and just had fitted. (sold walkers bits locally) still not as quiet as original particularly around 60-80mph. Think I'll need to do the 3.2 soon, still hanging on with the original system after 7 years. Bit reluctant to fit eternalcar as noise on 2.2 changes whole character of car. Local stealer says quality of replacement system should be same as original....

About 2yrs ago, the quality fell off a cliff, but price went up.

At any miles actually. Should have fitted one myself at 80k and saved myself 180 notes. If i'd known at the time of course. Always easy to be wise after the event.

I got one from here and fitted well and still going strong after 18 months came in at just over £100 for 2 centre sections and a back box for an estate, but gone up a little since. There in Blisworth, Northampton so not far away if you want to collect   :y

About 2yrs ago, the quality fell off a cliff, but price went up.

My first Omega was sold at 4 years old and the second Omega at 6 1/2 years old, both with original GM exhaust. I must say though that on the first omega I had an advisory for the back box on the last MOT before selling the car. But then if you say the quality is no longer what is used to be....
