A couple of pictures to show what the difference is and why the spigot bearing and nylon bush are needed.

Manual 2.6
The line across the diameter is 39mm

Automatic 3.0
The line across the diameter is 44mm

Oh yeah, and from removing the engine...is there any clue as to why it seized?

Have not got time to check yet but I got my big bar onto the Crank Bolt and it slackened with still no movement of the Crank :o so definately seized. The oil pump line on the Crank is in the 12 oclock position and the Cams look to be together and not out of sync if that makes sense, plus the tension is still on so doesn't look like that.
When I have plenty of spare time I will remove the sump and see whats welded together ;D

Daz, the crank dimension is not critical and changed on all engines at some point during production.

The key item can be seen in the first picture which is the spiggot bearing inside the crank drilling......this supports the manual gearbox input shaft  :y

I assumed it is the part that sticks out that the flywheel pushes onto then bolts up onto that is key? and whatever the part you have to buy from Vx creates this as it was different on the auto...
If that makes sense :y

Yes, with eight bolts.

Errrr :-/ Not at all  ::)  ;D   ;D  ;D
The input shaft to the gearbox sticks down the end of the crank shaft & requires the needle bearing to support it/stop it waggling about. Bearing just not required on auto.

well we must be getting crossed wires here.
I tried just for my own curiousity to put the manual flywheel onto the auto engine. It would not fit on. The flywheel of the manual diameter was 39mm the diameter of the auto bearing or whatever you call it on the end of the crank was 44mm. So whatever you buy fromvayxhall allows the two to marry up together

I'll leave that reply to Mark then  :-/. The last time I had flywheel off was years ago, but theend of the flywheel s where they should bolt to.
The spiggot bearing just fits inside the crank shaft end

2.6 & 3.2 crankshaft are made from a different material fron the other older engines, maybe they altered the end of the crankshaft  too ..... it does appear from your photos that they have. You need the dimensions of a manual 2.6/3.2 flywheel to compare.
What are you like with a half round file?  ::)  ::)  ::) ;)

You can't be put too much on the end of the crank to make them line up or you'll alter the distance from crank to clutch face etc

edit .... I meant crankshaft .... not flywheel  ::)

So i was wrong in thinking that all the manual flywheels were the same, but are the 2.5 and 3.0 flywheels the same and 2.6 and 3.2 flywheels the same then?
If so i am assuming that the 2.5 Vectra flywheel woukd fit ?
