Yes, because it's silicon and therefore heat resistant to bloody-silly-ow-ow-ow hot!

I would think it would be OK to use, but downside is you don't know what's getting squeezed inside when you clamp the two halves back together.
Failing that, Bostik Matrix 500 - hundreds of uses from helping used O rings to seal to sticking a GRP-faced side back on a race trailer!

Looks like you could use it to glue plastic rocker covers back on if you had oil leaks!

Done that a while back for the SSN and i must say thats there are no leaks from after a year or so.

The glue is a special bonding agent that is used in the bodyshop to bond things like new roof skins on and for bonding the frame work to panels like bonnets and boot lids.

Now to be honest with you i haven't got the flappy gasket thing in any of these that i've done and haven't noticed and difference.

Seeing inside also make you wonder where all the crap goes when you just clean out the pipes

Don't use general purpose silicone on anything upstream of the lambda sensor, or preferably anything at all on a car. It gives off fumes that will ruin the lambda sensor as it cures. In addition, it's not resistant to oil and fuel so it will break down if used to seal cam covers, breather boxes, etc. and the bits will find their way into the oil pickup strainer or perhaps even the oil pump.

Very useful to see the insides of the breather box, though.

Breather box is £38.49 + VAT and the grey sealant is £8.95 + VAT
