LPG front end
« on: 25 May 2010, 09:05:51 »

My kit is starting to get clunky, I am pretty sure I need a new evaporator.

The injectors are fast, quiet, maintenance free but jam on gas pressures over 1.5 bar.

The ECU is pretty basic compared to newer ones.

So how much for a super duper front end?

Do you need to go over 1.5 BAR? :o

The Valtek injectors flow enough for any Omega at just over a BAR.

You're probably talking the best part of £400 for one of Teilo's front ends. Plus the hassle of fitting it. Seems like a refurb of the vapouriser would make more sense.

Agreed... Assuming a rebuild kit is available, just rebuild your Vaporiser. If it isn't broke..... ;)

No kit available to repair, new one is about £100.

Perhaps I need to remount the injectors onto the inlet manifold rather than through plenum.

It cannot flow enough to avoid lean WOT.

What do you have in the plenum? Straws down through the plenum top?

If so, what is their diameter? I guess the straws themselves could be restrictive so replacing them might well help.

I think the brass nozzles we use have an ID of about 3.5 - 4 mm and the injector valve nozzles drilled out to 2.7-3mm seem to work. If the straws have an ID of 3mm or less I'd say they are the weakest link. Being quite long, they will be much more restrictive than a short nozzle drilled out to 3mm.

Plus, you can get rid of that bird's nest on top of your plenum. ;)

Yes straws - I'll measure tonight.

Personally I think they are a bit of a bodge.

Perhaps a tidy up Martins LPG party will be needed soon ;D ;D :y :y

But these are the straws in the intake. Doesn't sound like they'll be the limiting factor, TBH. :-/
