I have had a facelift manual 2.5 wheesel sat on my drive now for about 8 months. I bought it with a slipping clutch so I replaced that and made the stupid mistake of not running the car before I went ahead and replaced the fuel filter, oil filter, oil, air filter, glow plugs, and fuel return pipes. Once I'd replaced everything I started the car and it ran like a bag of nails so I had to find out why. After asking lots of advice from the all knowing ones of the black art of diesel I have decided to check the timing chains just incase i've turned the engine backwards while replacing the clutch but while i'm there i've decided to replace them along with the upper and lower guides, tensioner and crank oil seal. I have ordered the parts from the BMW dealer in Chester, first of all because they were £115 cheaper than Vauxhall plus they knew what they were talking about and they are delivering them to me (40 mile round trip) tomorrow and delivery is free. I have started to strip the parts off today but there's alot to remove and I want to make a few improvements along the way. I want to remove the EGR valve and assorted pipe work and not just disconnect it. I also want to remove the plastic pipe from above the rad that leaks and clogs the vaines of the rad with a thick sticky oily mess. The viscous fan is going and i'm replacing it with an electric one just incase then its a de-cat and a chip, then new disks and pads all round, an MOT and all this needs to be done before the Lakes meet

Wish me luck
