Diesel V Petrol

Found a Potential 2.5TD CDX, but with leather, older car than I wanted, but!!! and a member would buy the leather seats, and change them over while I supervised :D :D thing is, doing a comparison is a Diesel really worth it :-/ :-/
According to Auto Trader fuel consumption;

Petrol, 2.2L combined 28, Urban 19. Ex Urban 38.7
Diesel, 31, 22,40

Our 2.0l Omega does more that 28 running around so what are the real advantages?
To me it may well be the diference between going to Wakefield or Holmfirth to look at cars

Diesels will do good MPG all day long, my 2.5TD Manual averages about 35 around London and 45 to 50 on a Motorway if cruised at 75 mph, no contest.

No, not really, slow compared to an old BM 325 SE I use to own, but go for a manual 2.5TD all day long, Auto's can have a habit of dragging there heals, Manuals can be chipped well worth the extra 70 quid in my book, you will love the sound they make when revved.

whats your mileage like? Its only worth paying the premium for a diesel if you do big miles. If you just bumble around town, something thats £500 more for a diesel is going to take its time paying the difference back

Think on that milage per year I would be looking at LPG.

Slacker i'm on target for 30k miles this year  :o

10k a year is about the break even point so with 15k its gunna be worth a diesel for you.

I'd consider Ford Mondeo with you budget, going to be much more reliable than anything french  :y

Funnily enough :) looks like I am going to view a 2.5TD on saturday, the same garage has a Mondeo with a cdti engine, got to be worth a look :y
