not heard of any problem with their engines..

but they may have some electrical niggles as usual

for french cars.. other than its ok..

and parts not cheap though..

and it has a high market ratio in my country as they are build here..

You would think that until you experienced french electrics!

Manuals have clutch issues, engines are ok if well cared for. The have the usual rear shock and bush issues

check the alternator charging voltage both engine cold and hot ;D ( I laugh because I have a similiar issue still not solved although I bought a new alternator >:()

check all electrical components.. and check the current from the battery when nothing is on..

I heard electric mirrors, window motors cause problems..

A boss about 5 years ago had a Megane, what a heap of shite! Squeeks rather, extremely poor trim fitting (it was 18 months old) string of electical issues in short time he had it, alarm problems, lights staying on.

I can sum it up this way, to change the drivers side front indicator bulb, the drivers front wheel has to come off to access the hatch in the wheel arch  :o

As per other thread, VeccyC is not that amazing, but budget wise fits your needs. Also trade club means cheap parts!

Those issues are 'easily' fixed with new bcm, engine ecu, immobilizer, lock set and a fuse box(!).

Vx. didn't do much better on the early Vectra C's, I've read that you have to drop the front bumper to change a headlight bulb.

correct correct correct  :P

good engines nice looking if its a cab like my mrs's but blow me down if the management light came on.
I searched for 2 hrs for a internet diagnosis and theres so much twaddle out there, basically the spaner llight was on and then the management light did too and serv. after much looking i cleared the spanner light but lo and behold the next day the managment light has gone out and the serv and its A1 again.

shame i couldn't find on the internet that on a 05 megane the spanner light count down when it hits 0 the eml comes on   ::)

my mrs had a 02 plate megane cab a few years ago and the coild kept nackering,we were buying them from Lokkers and there was people in the q there with the same flippin problem lol  :D

yep.. I forgot to say, I changed one at 3000 km which my wife drive ;D was making vibrations..

but even the new one was not that easy to tune for vibrations, still above 6500 rpm does it if you prevent the vibrations car drives like an auto >:(

I've seen several issues with these cars.
My friend got a new one and after 5000 km the handle on the passenger doors was starting to peel off badly ( passengers were driven no more than 1000 km)  ;D
Air conditioner was leaking gas after one year.

Others had problems like leaking fuel on inclines, belts snaping and waterpumps breaking after 25 000 km.
Personnaly I would avoid these cars.
