MV6 suspension or not?
« on: 22 July 2010, 12:42:55 »

While contemplating the things I need to do on my Elite it occurred to me that as both front and rear shocks are 'spongy' I could use this chance to upgrade to MV6 (self level is nice but far from essential to me).

Then I saw Marks comment about wishbones wearing out faster and wondering if roads are getting worse. This has led me to wonder if going 'sports' might actually be a bad option, bearing in mind that Bucks CC whose roads I drive on the most are appalling at pot hole repairs.

I'm sure a number of people here must have done the same change, just wondering if they regret it or not?

Mv6 lowered sports chassis is a good improvement over stock IMO. Regardless of road condition. Just stick with stock wheel sizes if the roads are crap, but that goes with any suspension set up IMO. I have 18's which make it a little crashy over bumps.

You'll have no issues with lowered sports chassis from face lift mv6.  :y

I too have one of each - the Elite is like a hovercraft compared to the MV6!
A comfortable hovercraft, mind.............

Interesting that you can get such variety of opinion in such a small sample  ;) Good point about the wheel size though, if I was to stick with my 16" rims instead of upgrading to 17's it might offset some of the ride loss.

Decisions, decisions

Although not huge, the difference in ride between 16" & 17" rims is noticable.  :y

Steinmetz Springs and Bilstein Shocks work fantastic togther and you would not be disappointed. I fitted them to my Wife's elite estate and she thinks they are brilliant (far better in my opinion than the boaty elite suspension), made her drive faster round corners too  ;D

Irmscher Springs are good but a bit harder ride than Steinmetz :y
