LPG Install now passed.
« on: 22 July 2010, 20:46:57 »

Well, all is well with the World & i'm cooking on gas ;D
I thought I would bore you all with a couple of pics ::)

Told you it was a 'couple of pics' ::) ;D

I would like to take this opportunity to give MASSIVE THANKS to everyone who had anything to do with the LPG 'How-To's' which were inspirational and easy to follow! Also to the Great individuals who gave me 'hands on' help so to speak, as without this I could not have have managed it! :y

And last but certainly not least, my most Humble and Heartfelt Thanks go to the man responsible for giving me my life back, ( so I could fritter it away keeping my Omega on the road  ;D )Prof. Mike Griffin at The R.V.I. in Newcastle upon Tyne, I take my hat off to you Sir  :y :y :y :y :y

(oh, and also GM for building me the ideal vehicle to  provide the extensive physiotherapy hard physical & mental stimulus required to keep my sanity reasonably intact & my pockets very definately empty! :D ;D

 Best Regards, Phil :y

very neat front end job, excellent work  :y Looks very similar to another outstanding install  ::)

I find the traffic master location blinds the postion of the fuel gauge, any particular reason you went there?

Did you go back to the same place to get it certificated?

Thanks Tunnie :y
I actually think the LPG Gauge is rather basic & ugly and looks worse fitted on one of the centre dash switch blanks as they are shaped &  the oblong gauge looks out of place. Having said that, where i've put it you can't see it clearly unless you bend forward a little, but I can live with that  ;D
Also, the Company that failed it first time round said they would retest it for free & they were as good as their word :y I found them to be a very Professional outfit & would certainly recommend them to any Northern oofer who needed an inspection doing  :y.

That looks very tidy, where did you get it done and how much did it cost? if you don't mind me asking. If my Wakefield diesel does not work out then there is always the Holmfirth petrol if I could get it lpg'd as tidy as that, for a reasonable cost... :y

Exactly why i put mind in the blind button position, slight glance and you can see it. That said, its actually a useless thing, i actually go off my trip meter!

I get about 370-400 miles out of a tank, so i just base all my journeys on that and how much i have left  :)

I did it all by myself Vamps :y (with the very willing help of several LPG officionado's on here ;))
The kit was bought from Teilo (the Oofs prefered supplier) & cost me £495 including a 70 litre tank ( 56 litres actually useable as it has an 80% fill cut off. This was my choice, as it is small enough to still allow long items through into the car interior but large enough to give me a LPG range of approx. 280 miles around town & short runs. Obviously that mileage figure would be much higher if I was doing long runs! You can of course choose any size cylinder tank that will physically fit in the Omega for the same price) I also found that I can just get a wheelchair flat in the boot with room for a few bags of groceries on the occassions we take my mother-in-law shopping ::) Oh, almost forgot  :-[ I had to buy 10 metres of split convoluted cable trunking to house all the wiring because the people testing the installation wouldn't pass it until it was fitted, plus a roll of cotton loom tape for that 'professional finish'  & a small tin of underseal ::)
So,  all in it cost me around £530  :y

Should you decide to go down the LPG route, I would be only too pleased to assist you in any way, provided you supply me with your legal expertise in the divorce court :D ;) :y

Thank you for spoiling my evening, you have reminded that I am in Court tomorrow, listed for a 3.5 hour hearing unless there is agreement before we go in, which there will not be as been going on 18months :'( :'( :'(
I should add, in a professional capacity... :-X

Car wise, let's see what happens, that is not a bad cost and I will look after the wife while you sort out the car.... :D :D :D

Very neat and tidy Phil :y :y

Not sure where they think they can get off dictating the trunking... That's definitely not in the COP >:( >:(

Really sorry for that Mike :-[
As for your last comment, I have no doubt she would be delighted as she is always moaning I give the car or computer more attention than her! Unfortunately, I would expect you to be looking after ME while I was fitting your lpg (tea + bickies + passing the odd spanner etc as the Monkey certainly doesn't do manual labour!!! ;D) :y
