can anyone help i have a vectra 2.2 auto whitch is runing at 900 rpm in tick over is this normal,plus when you are sat in traffic with your foot on the brake all it wants to do is pull forward fighting the brake all the time, i'v just come from an omega 2.6 v6 witch just sat there with no foot on the brake & waited for you to put your foot on the gas before it did anything does anyone no what the problem could be  any help would be appreciated , also when you take your foot of the brake it takes a second to pull away,thanks for any help you can give as i have kids in the car & i dont feel safe. :'(

900 is too high, that's why it's pulling forward even under braking. What is the tickover in park? Could be a vacuum leak somewhere letting the revs rise higher than they should be, have a listen around with it ticking over.

I always thought the 4-pots idled at circa 1k??  :-/

No.. 500rpm is more normal.. or at least the one I drove for 18 months idled around that speed...
