So, in a moment of rage, whilst swerving around trying to avoid some pillock, you want to remove one hand from the wheel to show your disgust :o ....

No rage required. I've been in situations, ie car parks where I've had the wheel turned from the ahead position to find someone is reversing towards the side of my car but as there is no central horn push it means you have to look to find the buttons. They're obviously in such a good postion that Vauxhall have decided to include a central horn push on their more recent cars. Her Smart does at least have a modern take on the olde style horn rim of cars of old

I had this recently and could not 'find' the horn, fortunately foot on the gas saved the day....... ::) ::) ::)

pre-facelift: the feature where the door corners often rust out, fixed steering wheel position, limited space in drivers footwell better than many but I do wear size 13-14! The horn position - I am very surprised that I have not set off the airbag as I bang the centre of the wheel....

Other than that, love it.   :)

The LPG tank is too small, and the seats are cloth, other than that its ok. :)

I am forced to assume it is an age thing - horn position that is - I still prefer it to be in a fixed, instinctively available, position, preferably in the wheel centre.

Amazingly, I can't think of any other real annoyances. Accessibility of some components in the engine bay perhaps, but other vehicles are far worse. :y

I'd still like another, but I couldn't do one justice -  I just don't have the garage space & it'd be a shame to have to leave it outside.  :(

I find myself in a difficult position, agreeing with AndyB or disagreeing wholehartedly with TB. How can a moving target be easier to hit than a stationary/central one...?

I see what TB is saying, drive at 10 to 2 all the time :P and the buttons are in the right position, but if it was central who cares .....

....in the mondeo(spit)one hand on the top of the wheel, like you do, slightest ping on of an indicator   on an adjacent car and the inside of your arm is an inch away from the horn, takes milli seconds and saved many a prang.
Well, I prefer a switch that I do not have to remove my hands from the wheel.

That said, I drive defensively enough not to ever have to use the horn - but if I did need it, I know its exactly where it should be, right under either thumb..

Always wanted one at the time, never had one.  However, everyone I've driven in the past 5 or 6 years has been disappointing - maybe because I had the Omega first  :-/

We have already proved that a stock 3.0l 24v V6 Omega will outrun a 3.0l 24v S6 Senator (even though it was catless), is smoother, and is better balanced to take corners better.  Thats before the all the refinements to the car to make it a better ride, and a nicer place to sit.

Then consider that anything electronic on the Senator breaks after a couple of years....

I can see no advantages of a Senator - I look upon the Omega as a refined version, tweaked in all the right places.

I should point out, unlike certain members of the Admin team, I am not a Vauxhall fanatic, I generally think their cars are poorly made and designed by idiots accountants, esp lately. I'm probably not even particularly fond of the Omega, except it fills my current desires - comfortable (back issues  :'(), cheap, quick, excellent handling, refined - though the fact I've had one for 7yrs shows I'm struggling to find a replacement car...

Ah, but in the mondeo(spit) the same area works the same as the centre. So the thumb buttons work the same as punching the centre, ie the whole of the inner wheel iirc. So you loose nothing and gain more area...it's not a case of one or the other. :y

There is nothing to replace the omega for the money, nothing. Anything else is less car for more money.  :y

Its no secret I like the Mundano (current and previous - earlier ones are useless).  A well thought out, comfortable car.

I liked the styling of the Senator, but, I could never justify the cost of the insurance and as at the time when I could have considered a Senator, I wasn't really doing the long journeys to warrant the big engine...

Omega is bullet proof compared to the one I had, a very steady 90k on it and it was shagged out. Of course I got the blame for destroying it after Dad gave it to me. Went well though, good brakes and suspension, I just get the impression it was never meant, or was never really capable of more than 100k life. Wrack was worn out, clutch gone, second exhaust hanging of, stiff gear box, drafts all through the car from gators and door seals and all the symbols on the stalks had worn off. 2.0 16v .....mark 1 or 2 I think, or whatever :-/
