Halfords trade card.
« on: 08 November 2010, 18:24:27 »

I recently blagged a trade card from the local store manager and bought a couple of items with a 25% discount which was nice.
Today I bought Halfords own Twin front wiper blade sets for the Omega estate and for the Combo van.
Set 28   £18.49 retail.        Discounted to £7.90.
Set 51   £15.49 retail.        Discounted to £4.24.
Saving £21.84.  35%.
Not bad.
Don't yet know if they're any good, nor did I compare trade club prices, but I'm quite pleased with that saving.

Tends to work out similar.

Bulbs, in particular, get good discounts from Halfords Trade.

GM Tradeclub is better for oil, and I would always use GM filters due to better quality.

Any specific technique used to blag, tried it on in my local one and got nowhere

My Halfords wanted to see something official for the business...  So I took in a bank statement for my arts and craft 'business', with a suitably adjusted letterhead...  I don't have any issues getting somethings like that...  I do need to join Autobahnstormers to get a TC card still, as some stuff is still loopy priced...

On the Halfords card, I bought 1l of Clutch fluid for about £3 as opposed to £12, so definate savings from it...  You even get reasonable savings on fuel additive too...

I saved the grand total of about 7p the other week on a halfords pro multi gizmo tool set, proclaiming 150 pieces content....

Reduced in the sale to £99.99 or thereby.

Tried the halfords trade club thaaang and, yup, could do - on the original price.

So, saved 7p.   ;D

Every little helps - sorry, wrong store....   :-[   ;D

Technique? I did have an advantage, as I spun a yarn about adding car valeting etc. to my carpet cleaning business, accompanied by big smiles and cooing noises, and that I'd be buying lots of materials from him.
But he didn't ask me for any proof that I was in business, and wouldn't even look at my business card. It seems it's the luck of the draw from branch to branch. In fact, now that I've checked, the card isn't even made out in the business name; just mine.

Its a great saving when its at its normal price, but nobody in their right mind would buy it at that price ;D

Be aware, some items are more expensive on trade than they are if they are on sale :o

Also, with Hellfrauds, if its a sale item, I've found it cheaper to go via a cashback site - http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/TheBoy - reserve it online, they pick in up from store. Double whammy of web price (often cheaper) and cashback :y

I guess thats why topcashback have given me £171 in the last 6 months ;)
