while browsing about snow tires , I saw a chat between two Brits.. one say, he buy  snow tires from a german firm with a transportation cost of 5 € per tire.. but now cant find the link :-/

380 euro each for the VXR8!!!

I find.. here you go :y (4-5days delivery they say)
http://www.reifen.com/en?

http://www.reifen.com/en/TyreSize/List/CarWinter/205-55-R16/0/False/False/none

http://www.reifen.com/en/TyreSize/List/CarWinter/225-55-R16/0/False/False/none#ListTyreBySize.TyreSpeedIndexKey=undefined&ListTyreBySize.TyreManufacturerFilterKey=all&ListTyreBySize.SortDirection=dsc&ListTyreBySize.Sort=&ListTyreBySize.Page=4&InstanceName=ListTyreBySize

imo, I would go buy second hand rims and buy new snow tires for size 16 .. they are also circular and go well on snow  ::) ;D ::)

pcd 120
off set front 48
off set rear 58

checking at this link , brake calipers (may ) cause problem with smaller wheels.. dont know..

and they say "according to handbook firm recommend not use winter tires on vxr8" :o :-?

That only works if 16's will physically fit over the brakes on the VXR8 ;)

imo its best to try on a tire-wheel selling shop.. not something that you can buy from net..

I have noticed this, I was planning on getting a set of Nokian's for the Omega before the weather hit. Alas work got in the way and I never had chance. However the tyres were ~£60-70 a corner, now the same tyre is £173  >:(

Both of these are from MyTyres. I wouldn't mind a bit of a markup, but that is disgusting!

I wonder if the tyre manufacturers had anything to do with it too.

problem is tire chemicals are expensive..and tire shelf is  short.. all customers demand newly produced tires .. (no one accepts 1-2 year old tires) so tire manufacturers being experienced about sales numbers on every country , I estimate they were short on stock..

the summer tires (bridgestone potenza) I bought last time for omega was some months old and distributor (not the tire shop) had bad moments with me >:(  he said what you expect, those tires are expensive not everyone buys them and those come from japan ,and the cargo takes long time with ship..  :-?

but of course this doesnt change the fact that when the snow falls , winter tires price goes up as usual but not that much as I witnessed in your country.. :o
