Peugeot 206 error code
« on: 06 January 2011, 18:55:01 »

My son has '02 Pug 206. Been running fine. Today he changed a brake light, then the car wouldn't start.  :)

Coincidence I think. Anyway I put key in ign and got a spanner with 04 1605 on the display. Turned ign. on and got EML and a spanner with 7200. Tried to start and got a click.
Checked battery, less than 10 volt. So it is now on charge.
Does anyone know these codes? Are they related to flat battery? Will they clear by themselves?
Been to Peugeot forum, sad place.

I can't find anything KP, have you got access to a generic code reader such as the ELM327 or hand held?

[edit]to add - the spanner and 7200 will be the service interval, you can ignore that :y[/edit]

It looks like P1605 on Pug (and some others) is "P1605 Keep alive memory (KAM) test failure" .. so either the non volatile memory is broken, or that came on because the battery was so flat the ECU has forgotten everything it had stored.

I'm guessing that could also bring on the service interval indicator, if it no longer knows how many miles it's done since the last service..

Fingers crossed charging the battery and clearing the codes fixes it, rather than a new ECU!

Thanks for the input guys, I know BA about these pugs and my cheapie code reader will only do Vauxhalls.    ::)

Looks like it was just a flat battery. Started fine, no EML and no spanners. Even the brake light works.  :)

Panic over.   :y :y :y
