my omega has gone
« on: 05 February 2011, 19:38:42 »

Two weeks ago I traded in my facelift 3.2 elite at a main skoda dealer for a Superb 2.8 v6 elegance. As it was coming up to ten years old I felt that it would probably start to need more TLC than I, as an old age pensioner, was prepared to give it. It has just surfaced on Autotrader at a small dealer in Cadnam although the dealer has missed the fact that it has a telephone. The pictures brought a huge wave of nostalgia as it was the best car I have ever owned. I am going to stay on the forum though.

Sad news Mart but still, you've got the Skoda to keep you mobile - and that's the important thing. :y

It's good to hear that you're keeping your membership open. 8-)

Bodywork is good - only minor scratches. It always used more oil than my previous 3 .0 omegas but still well within manufacturers spec. I had it maintained by a good vx dealer. It also has a 2010 satnav disc in it.
So far I like the skoda - it seems a very good second best to the elite - but if they still made omegas!!!

The Superb's are superb, but I think to change the cambelt the whole front end has to come off on a V6  :o

Fortunately I spotted that it was due its first cambelt change on age  not mileage and the dealer agreed to do it without a quibble so I should be OK for the next four years

They are, but in my opinion a much better car, the V6 is lovely, they're superbly comfortable, masses of legroom, they're just a great all rounder  :y

I don't know how much DNA the Volkswagen Audi Group cars share but....

on SWMBOs Golf the front end isn't the nightmare to remove that I anticipated. It's a little like having to remove the inlet plenum or skuttle on an Omega V6. Once you get used to the idea  that it is necessary (and learn the easiest way to remove it) it's not so bad. ::)
