Last time I lost a wheel (a few years ago), it was because the garage had done them up too tight.  I was driving quite fast at the time ::), but fortunately a ditch slowed me to a halt.

too tight?
how can they come off like that?
Excess loads on them, they eventually shear. Which puts excess stress on the others, and fairly quickly went braking hard for a 70 degree tight right hander, you see your NSF wheel beating you to the apex...  ...around the sme time you get that unmistakable sensation of the brake disc shattering as it ploughs into tarmac.
... and a rather moist feeling in the seat of your pants :-X :-X :D :D
Oddly, I was unphazed by it, I was more worried about the bollocking I was going to get from the garage (was in works van).

Fortunately, I had a ladder on the roof, a butt (test phone) in the back, the knowledge to 'borrow' somebodys phone line, and was 'parked' just a few yards from a telegraph pole ::)

And yes, that miserable tinker Rose did tear me off a strip, made me fill out a driver misuse form, even though it was his technicians that breaked it all up, and could have easily ended up being far more serious...  ...much like the time when the engine fell out (and that was another driver misuse form).

You do realise, if someone has loosened your wheel nuts, that can be classed as attempted murder.

......of the car or the owner....  :-/

Well both I suppose  :)

 :oshocking!

On a serious note though, someone who was a friend of one of my family members did this to a bloke who cheated with his wife, he went inside for it, and they did class it as attempted murder  :-/

Now this IS a bit of juicy gossip! :o :o :o :o :o
Tell us more............ ::) ::) ::)

I had both the left side wheels fall off a beetle that we were towing to the scrap yard, that will teach me to try and speed up the wheel removal process at the yard by removing 2 bolts from each wheel  :D :D The stupid part is when the rear wheel came off first both me and my mate who was doing the towing though haha, someone has lost a wheel!! When it lurched back onto the hub and the front disappeared as well it wasn't so funny  :o

Actually, a serious thought, have you checked the front bolts? If they are loose it is deliberate.

Well basically, what happened was a bloke tried it on with his wife, they had a bit bit of how's your fathers brother, he undone the wheel nuts one night, got found out, got a 3 year prison sentence, came out after the first year and spent the next year on probation.

Why he couldn't do the simple thing and go and smack the bloke I'll never know  ;D ;D ;)

Front wheels are fine. First thing i did was check. I kind of hope it just happened (as unlikely as it seems) Dont really like the thought that someones out to get me. Will be checking them offten for a while i think. After washing the rubber off all the paint the damage is not as bad as i first thought. But it still going into the garage next week.

That was another odd one. I found 8 of the 10 bolts close by. As if they had popped off in one go.  :-?
