Hi,
I have got a few cars so i have not been using my omega for a while. Going to put it back on the road shortly as i am missing it. I have a few questions if someone can help me.
My Omega is an manual mv6 3.0l with full black leather so is a really nice place to be. It needs a few things doing to it now like the usual bubble rust on the door and things like that but i have been wondering wether to sell it or get it converted to LPG so that it is cheaper to run. I was wondering about getting something like a polo diesel or something but i prefer the omega for obvious reasons but don't like the fuel costs. I do about 20,000 miles a year with going to work and other things like running the kids to endless after school clubs.
I mainly want to know what kind of fuel consumption anyone is getting on a manual 3.0l with LPG. My omega is actually the most economical car i have as i have got a Mitsubishi Delica 4x4 which costs about 30ppm to run, a 320bhp Volvo V70 T5, about 27ppm to run.
Do i keep the MV6 and convert to LPG???
Any help regarding consumption on manual with LPG would be a great help!!

Mine's an auto but, to give you an idea, my average consumption on LPG is around 20MPG - mostly commuting mileage. The same driving returned about 26 MPG on petrol.

Auto 3.2 .. presently averaging around 15.3 p/mile on LPG - mostly short (15 mile) journeys.

Over the long term, 30656 miles () the mpg on LPG is 18.4 but that includes a great many miles towing a large caravan !!

S.Wales runs (solo) I get 23 mpg on LPG, dashboad computer "thinks" I'm getting 28 mpg Petrol

Savings over those 30+ thousand works out at 9.77 p / mile, so if you are doing 20,000 a year your savings could be around £2000 a year !!

I normally get about 25 around town and 32- 35 on the motorway sitting at around 80. That is working the mileage out not using the fuel computer. Being a manual i found it pretty good on fuel compared to a 2.5 Auto i had years ago, that was awful on fuel, was getting as low as 15 mpg round town in that!! :-?

The big savings are to be made if you can DIY the conversion 

As Entwood says, the savings are just under 10p per mile

Well you guys are selling it to me.
I have been running around for quite a while in my Delica which is really thirsty for a diesel but then i only bought that for towing a caravan and getting all our gear, bikes and gods in when we go away and for that it is great but for everyday transport it it far too expensive to run.
I have been quoted around £1200 for a BRC system, is this a good price, what have people on here paid for theirs?

That seems a little on the cheap side IMHO (assuming that's fitted) :-/ :-/

I paid under £700 for my kit and converted it myself 2 1/2 years (50k ish) ago

If having it converted by a "Professional" ask them:

Have they converted a 3.0 Omega before? If yes, can you put me in touch with the customer please?

Do you remove the inlet manifold before drilling and fitting the nozzles? (If the answer to this is "no" I wouldn't let them near my car )

What tank is included in that... You want the largest possible for your situation

if your prepared for pi$$ taking and have a 4pot, i've got 28mpg on gas over the course of a tank

That is cheap for a BRC .. unless prices have dropped a lot !!!  I had a professionally installed BRC Sequent 56 system with an 80 ltr 4 hole tank (64 ltrs LPG) done 3 years ago .. with VAT it was a shade under £2200 .. (vat was only 17.5% then as well)

Took them 4 days (price included a courtesy car) and they DID remove the inlet manifold to do the job.
