personal plate transfer?

hi guys. what do i need to do to transfer a personal plate from my old car to new car?

 (apart from unscewing it ;D)
just need to know what forms i need,how long does it take and does it cost me owt?

been on dvla.all the buggers seem to be trying to do is flog me a plate! couldnt find any info on going about transfering.

Go to your local dvla office, fill in the paper work and done, it is easy, apart from parting with money for the transfer fee..... :y

Done this many times swmbo has private plate. you need both v5.both mot the numbers from both the tax discs, and the £80 fee you will need to fill out the transfer form available from local tax office. job done if you need to put it onto retention it will cost £105. oh and it takes about a week,
