I would summise, if its the prop shaft, that the pinion seal has failed, and your diff is in dire need of oil!

Dead simple when 2Woody is on the scene ... and Kevin Woods has one in his boot .... IIRC it was done quicker then (and while) I did the ATF change ... :)

O.k i'm hopeing to get on this on my days off but have still not sourced one yet.  Do i need a vauxhall one or will one form europarts/andrew page be any good.  Still not sure what this thing looks like so i'm flying blind as stated before the e.p.c shows a few different seals.  Also do i have to get the diff oil from vauxhall or will halfords do one??
Any advice please.....

Have you priced a seal at the dealers yet?

As an aside, the guide referred to by Rob is splendid - well done to Mark, Matchless and Seprim. 8-) 8-) - great stuff.

No i've not priced the seal at the dealers mate.  When i went to get my cam cover gaskets the other week the guy that works behind the parts counter....well shall we says hes abit of hard work.  I would'ent mind but i used to work there but he started after i had left so thank god for small mercies. ;D ;D  Plus the spares dept is so small now its mad it was massives before.

Seal from VX is only about 20 quid. Got AndyC to put one in the post for me.

There is a maintenance guide detailing the procedure. It's important to mark the original position of the pinion nut relative to the input shaft and tighten it to exactly the same position on refitting because this controls the preload on the bearing.
