Aw 'dangle berries', what have i just done....
« on: 11 July 2007, 15:46:16 »

....In my drive for world domination. Oh okay promotion to the senior management team will do  ::)

I`ve been barking and snarling for months at my Operational Head for more scope in my role and a bit of limelight.

We have 3 of the most senior of directors on site tomorrow and along with the 400 staff a huge all day presentation is being given by out Senior Management Team on business performance through the last quarter.

Anyway with a perverted and massochistic grin my boss has just dropped the bombshell.

Im doing my deprartments presentation in all of this.... :o :o :o

I havent stood in front of such a large number of people since my uni days and frankly i am now peeing myself.

So anyone done this to such a great extend and got any tips?

I do it regularly.....and preperation is the key.

When delivering, you need to focus on at least 4 key points around the room to give the effect of delivering to the complete audience.

And always remember, the audience in this scenario is on YOUR side.....unlike some of the audiences I have to deliver to!

I have to do regularly, and agree with Marks, preparation is part of the key to delivering a succesful presentation, the 4 points well, that depends on the issues or key factors to focus on, and what the presentaton is about. Wear your clan tartan and that, that will soften them up to start with  ;D ;D

Hope it went well Mark :y

In my earlier DJ'ing years I had to start off an evening of various entertainment for a huge New Years Eve Ball at our Civic Hall and there was 1000 guests there!! Had to knock back a few glasses of "Dutch courage" beforehand ::)

Mark's suggestions are great, but lay off the sauce!!

I'd recommend that you animate yourself while doing the presentation, walk about the room a bit and talk with your hands to emphasise some points. Keep good eye contact too.

Keep jokes to a minimum but at the same time keep the mood light.

Have some cards with bullet points of items you want to raise. You don't want to read something parrot fashion, but you'll want to keep track of where you are.

Quite frankly, I don't think a day is long enough to prepare for something like that, but it's not impossible. I think you should kick your bosses jacksie for dropping you in it like this.

good luck bud'!!

one down one to go - next presentation at 1.30pm

Good feedback from directors ( right message, good pace) although there were points i was not happy with, but i guess we are always overly critical of ourselves. :-/

I bet the things you're worried about weren't even noticed.
