I sold a mk1 Escort Twin-Cam on ebay last year for almost twice that - and it was little more than a log book with an engine

Theres a beautiful mk1 escort RS1600 (big arched, fully rally prepared) in the garage of the house opposite, and a near concours MK1 Lotus Cortina in the house next door to that.
Perhaps I should take up car crime.  ::) ;D ;D

My ex boss had one on a C reg and was concourse. I never drove it but was driven in it and went like poop off a shovel. Him and his business partner then bought a Lotus Sunbeam. That went like teflon poop off a teflon shovel! I really wish they had gone the whole hog and bought a Lotus Carlton to finish it off lol.
I remember before i could drive, buying a 2 door, mk2 escort (something like a 1600) for £20 from a mate. Sills were fooked so as i was working for a steel fabricators at the time, my bosses said i could have as much of the steel they wouldnt re-use and within 6 weeks, i had her taxed, mot'd and because i couldnt drive, i sold her for £250 (only spent a max of £50 on parts) and that was about 1996!
