Yep - that's what happened.

My point was that the DVLA acknowledged that they were in posession of his V5 yet insisted that he must fill in a section of that same V5 before they would post it to him.

They're not the most flexible of organisations, although so far been decent to me..

As Kevin says, they seem to be a constant cause of consternation in the kit car world though - I recently read of someone taking their newly completed kit to be registered (which should have received an 'age related' plate as it used a single main donor) only to be told that he would get a Q plate because "That's how it works"..

When he tried to complain that was wrong and take his forms to another DVLA office, he was told he couldn't have his forms back.. so now he's stuck trying to protest that particular DVLA 'officer' is applying the process incorrectly while the DVLA holds all the paperwork to ransom. I bet that's a fun procedure!

if mail has chevrons on and a "do not redirect" instruction, they HAVE to be returned to the sender, not delivered as addressed

this should have been returned to DVLA as "addressee gone away"
How would they know if a person is no longer at a given address?

Stop whinging. If you were trying to do in Spain what you are trying to do in England you would be:

An OAP

Penniless (well centless)

Crotchety

before you achieved it. Trust me DVLA are a paragon of efficiency and cheap to boot.

Aah, but that's only if you started the process at the legal driving age, more likely you would be dead!

royal mail intercept it at the point of redirection

If there's no redirection in place for the name, it gets delivered.  If there is a redirection in place, "do not redirect" mail addressed to the name on the redirection gets intercepted by the postman doing the redirections and returned to sender

Whilst driving to work this morning, I did notice some rubber lines in the road....   ....I didn't think I left that much there  :'(

Yep, Can't register it without taxing it. Can't tax it without an MOT. Can't MOT it without it being registered. Oh, we'd like to inspect the vehicle. Can't get someone out to inspect it. Can't drive it to us without tax, can't tax it without registering it, can't register it without an MOT..... >:(

FFS. Retards. The rather lot of 'em.

DVLA.

'nuff said.

Seconded! >:( >:( >:( >:(

Decided to ring yesterday as it's been 5 weeks since visiting the local office. Got a call back today saying they have no record ::) ::)

I pointed out that as it was done at the Local Office and the refund cheque was issued from DVLA Swansea 3 weeks ago that didn't make sense ::) ::)

Anyway... Had to give a load of details of the current tax disk I have, which I did, and then got asked what I paid for it? Errr... Helloooo... Just told you I exchanged it and was sent a refund! ;D ;D

How can anywhere be so inefficient, especially in the modern technological age ::) ::)
