My saloon tryed to kill me.
« on: 02 August 2011, 20:31:41 »

Well its been i a few weeks since i started my saloon.  So i jumped him off the estate and was getting him out of the garage when from the air vent and under the steering wheel smoke starts to appear so i turn the car off straight away and then go to jump out and oh bugger i can not get out cose i'm half way out and stuck in the door way.  Had to get my hands on the wall and pull the car out which was hard going. Anyway checked around and found the fuse for the self leveling was melted but had not popped dose anyone know off the top of there head what size fuse this should be ???  Mine was 20 Amp just thinking if this is the correct size fuse i mean it should be due to me being the second owner of the car from new and i have had it now around 11 years. ;D ;D ;D ;D

It would be interesting to have a look at exactly what happened there. Many Omegas have burnt out due to fires in that area (assumed to be power sounder, but perhaps there is another cause). Does your car have a power sounder?

If so, FFS pull it out, but it would be good to do a post-mortem. You want to know what was smoking anyway, as there may be further damage.

I have had a look round and nothing else seems to be damaged and the smoking has stop now the fuse to the self leveling is out i have started the car and driven it just off the drive and back on again and it seems o.k....It dose not have a power sound as its a 95 year....I'm still gonna have another good look round and i have got another self leveling pump so will see what happens when i get to it that is i will post up anything i find or don't find for that matter. :y
