Arguably the dullest and most under whelming car I have ever used.

Yes they are pretty well screwed together but, the interior is dull, the handling lack luster....the whole thing is just very average.

It must be pretty high miles as that is pretty cheap - I had one as a courtesy car once and was quite impressed with it but typical VW/Audi blandness and no frills but it was a very nice drive.

i love them. had a v reg 1.9 tdi for 4 years never let me down. fast as well. and the fuel economy on the deisel is fantastic.
plus i really liked the red and blue dashboard lights, so much better than the bland omega white :y

They're good cars, very well put together, but totally and utterly boring, I drove one and the best thing I remember was how quality the window switches felt  :-/

older models not very different than the miggy if you compare similiar ages in reliability.. neighbour has one and I use from time to time.. and I must mention his engine is rebuilt before me although its more new (diesel) ;D

however if we talk about CC 's  its completely different..

Agreed, I have a Superb, basically a stretched Passat and yes it isnt the most exciting thing in the world to drive, but it is spacious, comfortable, very economical (for its size) and reliable.

Highly recommended.

Make sure both scuttle drains are clear. The battery is hidden under the scuttle and the second drain is hidden under the battery tray.

If the scuttle fills up and overflows it runs into the passenger footwell (just like an Omega ::)) but unlike an Omega it takes out the 'central convenience module' (central locking) instead of the fan controller.

And you want to get a Passat to improve that? With their complex, fragile and expensive front suspension, and the need to remove the front of the car to do anything to the engine. Not to mention the utterly depressing interior.

And don't buy one with the stupid and unreliable electric handbrake. Actually, that applies to anything with an electric handbrake!
