I touched one with a Volvo once. It made a bit of a mess. :-[

probably you are talking about a Laguna Kevin.. one friend had the new model, and for sometime only changed regular service items..but older model was not that innocent..

No.. This was a Renault 5 and I was in the Volvo - which needed the chassis pulling. Renault 5 needed more. ;D

I had a Mk. 1 Laguna which was pretty solid, actually, IMHO. Later Lagunas are a bit too plasticky for my liking, and a few friends have had some huge bills.

Trouble is CEM that Renault make some pretty evil compromises on some bits to make them right hand drive (clutch cables being particularly tortourous on some).

Plus the winters here dont help.

Interestingly I was following a Megane Scenic this morning and thought they had fitted the wrong wattage brake lights. Then when he indicated I realised it was the standard Renault wiring fault!  ;D

a car converted from original design to another may have faults .. as it also has other costs for another test/trial/production  period.. And I never think, French take it serious.. (because they cant be serious even in war ;D)

let cheapo clits aside , even BMW and Mercedes dont build robust cars proportional to their famous names in the last years (say 10 years) .. :-/  the money I spend for clit repairs in the last 3 years (and it was already an old car)  was just a small fraction what friends spend for their bimmers.. because day to day I see they repair their cars in their garage ;D ;D

honestly , I'm not a fan of any brand name, but I know how much I spend for my cars and clit (except painting and tires-wheels )  dont cost serious money..
