 Don't know.When it's low I refill it., Never have bothered with what fuel costs me a week.

And as for nicks comment about rust, it's solid, had been stood for 2 years, put 2 tyres and a battery, and a service, straight thro the test, might need exhaust for next year.

Some budget cars can be brilliant buys, more often it's about being in the right place at the right time / knowing someone who cant be bothered to advertise etc now as there sure aren't many bargains out there being advertised

Sounds to me like the cam timing is out on the pile of French poo. I know someone who did a head gasket and then it was a bitch to start, turned out cam was a tooth out.

I plan on starting again from scratch and revisiting that will be the first job. I did do it in a hurry and a fit of temper with the bloody thing tbh.
I cant help thinking though, that it suddenly started and ran ok for a couple of days ago though, and then went back to no chance of starting once I switched it off.

Up to my ankles in filler dust on the Austin smoothing out all the welds from modding a lot of the panels , think there's as much filler on the floor as on the car !!BTW its a job I hate and only a 1/3 way .

I feel your pain, having experienced such weirdness after swapping the engine in Project TB2/Tractor, only for it to run perfectly, just once.

  That was the plan, but it failed the MOT on Thursday because the handbrake apparently doesnt work on one side.
New cable and shoes should arrive tomorrow.

Problem with Pierre is the camshaft pulley woodruff key is bust. Could still have a bent valve or two, but I wont know until I put it all back together.

Spent the day driving around the countryside looking at some right old dogs.  1st one had no documentation at all, and possibly a gearbox fault (but was the updated version of the M32).  Drove fine, apart from the 6th gear thing, and was reasonably clean for its age/mileage.

2nd was a premium priced one, which she would have stretched to if it was in reasonable condition, but was a wreck that only just started, EML on, and a major oil leak.

3rd was another premium priced example, bodywork pretty tidy, but is dreadful condition underneath, despite the engine trying to spread enough oil under it to prevent corrosion.

Lots to look at there for those with more than a passing interest in planes
Even slower drive back due to the sunday drivers being awake and on the roads

I too have been looking around for replacements for Pierre.
I have concluded I had better get him up and running if at all reasonably possible.
The prices people are asking for utter piles of shite are beyond taking the piss.
