Started prepping for the ABS show this weekend.  Spent a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours taking the wheels off, giving all the wheel arches a good clean up, washing and polishing the wheels inside and out, and putting them back on.  Just got the wheel nut covers back on before the heavens opened!!  ::)

Tomorrow night... first pass of the engine bay and doors shuts...  :y

Last night... first pass of the engine bay and door shuts thoroughly cleaned.

Tonight... hoovered and shampoo'd carpets, dressed all interior trim and treated the leather.

Tomorrow... Will give her a properly good wash and maybe a clay bar, then when I get to the ABS rally on Friday, she will only need a quick wash, followed by SRP and EGP, a final engine bay dress, and a dollop of tyre shine for good measure!  :y

That's the plan anyway, I just pray the sun comes out!!  ::)

Managed to give her a good wash tonight, but no time to clay bar.  Also did a check of all fluid levels and increased tyre pressures ready to hook up the picky palace in the morning!!  :y

Washed it, claybar'd it (to get the winter grime off it), dried it, polished it.
Annual scuttle clean.

Today I've been mostly ultrasonicly cleaning carburettors. My utlrasonic bath turned up but without the cleaning fluid. So I used plain water instead. Results are amazing. The parts were so clean my hands didn't get any dirt on them when I rebuilt them. Also impressive was the amount of cak which was left in the bath. I am impressed. I wish I had got a bigger bath as it's really quite small but I managed. you couldn't do anything bigger mind

Fitted a sunroof ECU off a breaker, lets hope that cures the problem.

Time will tell.

Removed existing oil cooler and plate which was definitely the cuse of my water leak.Replaced with new cooler /plate seals and also replaced thermostat and transfer pipe.Found out why the B bolt is so called.Actually not that bad to get back in once you have removed the power steering reservoir and emptied the remains of its un-syphoned contents over the abs pump.

Biggest problem with that bolt is getting it started through oil dipstick holder/transfer pipe and then engine lifting eye.I kept dropping the damn thing and having to route around in the engine bay with a torch and telescopic magnetic retriever. All done know so thats another job sorted out.

Have also removed the drivers side exhaust manifold to replace the gasket as for some time now it has been making an annoying clicking from cold and getting worse by the day. When it did come off was surprised to find that the 4 lower studs came out with the nuts but the 3 on the top left the studs in place so just as weel I have got a stud remover as want to have all new studs and nuts fitted along with proper 3 layer gasket.Take my hat of to the men on the forum that can do that job in 4 hours.Has taken me around that just to get it removed although have been dodging the showers,so will hope for a dry day tomorrow and get it all back together.

Would it be a good idea to run a thin bead of oil cooler sealant around the gasket on the transfer pipe to back of block joint as looking at how ackward it is to get that pipe off I imaging the gasket 0 ring will keep falling off whaen I come to fit it back together.

Twiglet, what shampoo did you use on the carpet and what product to clean the plastic trims etc (and method, toothbrush/rag/elbowgrease etc). I  would love to see how it turned out.
