Oh no not wasted Paul don't worry. We fitted new(er) plugs and checked the HT system. Noted some minor water ingress, probably from the scuttle drain over pot 6 ( you need to seal that up btw)

Checked trims and maf ouput and found no issues there, afaict. No codes in gear box, abs or engine ecu's. Solenoid tests all seemed fine.

The slight miss or drop in power I witnessed last time didn't happen after.

However the slight oddnes on shift quality was evident, as was the jumpy rev counter needle when blipping the throttle from tick over. Although that never returned after the codes where cleared and trims reset.

How was the journey home? Any issues?

Ebay of course. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FITS-OMEGA-C-99-03-LEATHER-GEAR-SHIFT-HANDBRAKE-GAITER-/390774156928?  £12 for the pair. You'll need some contact adhesive, and a sharp blade.

They look much better than the stock ones.

Weren't LTFTs a bit off, albeit not by much, but show there may be a potential issue?

Ideally, the LTFTs need checking after a couple of hundred miles now they have been reset.

After fitting the gaiters I made an aluminium gearknob for a friend's Astra as he forgot to order one with the quickshift kit. Putting the radius on the top by plotting it in 2mm steps and then filing/polishing to a finish is a good prompt to finish the ball turner I started last year.
