Random note on diesels, is it just me or in the hotter weather do they heat up far, far quicker?
In winter I've noticed they take an age to get up to temp, but recently been super quick. I find the 3.2 is less affected by outside temp
Well a diesel generates less heat than a petrol, so yes they will get hotter quicker.
Also, aren't diesel blocks thicker and heavier than petrol equivalents? So there's more metal to heat up?
Today I cleaned (scraped) and hoovered the old girl out. £1.50 worth of car wash tomorrow and she'll be ready for her new owner. I'd love to say she'll be cherished, but a continued life of hauling building materials awaits, but with the addition of 2 large dogs to contend with too
I always thought it was due to the larger water jacket years ago, though not sure if that's still the case.
The pussy is up to full temp on the gauge within about 1.5m, which is quicker than any of the Omegas I've owned.
My old TD Omega used to take about 4m to be up to snuff, the Battlebus about double that (but I have doubts about stat on that)
Previous L series Rovers were also about same as TD, about 3-4m
For works diesels I've had, transits I have no idea, as they had timed aux heaters... ...reassuring laying in the bath on a cold winter morning, hearing the aux heater fire up to warm everything and defrost it. The shitty Escorts, again no idea, as used to go out and start, then come back in for a brew
