Had the V70 in for M.o.T. yesterday which it failed on n/s lower balljoint[I have a new bottom arm "in stock"]and both number plate lights inoperative-put new bulbs in and checked fuse but no joy next favourite is a broken wire probably around tailgate hinge area so I'll probably bridge it from one of the rear side lights.

Odd that both number plate lights failed AFTER you checked all the lights before taking it for MOT Mr Baza   
sounds like simple fixes though , good luck with the re-test

Yes indeed I did check the lights,but only because I noticed[after getting the car back from my stepdaughter]that the number plate lights weren't working when I opened the tailgate while the engine was running so the drls were working.Checked fuse and replaced bulbs to no avail and took it for M.o.T. knowing it would fail on these but wanted to know what if anything else it would fail on before possibly wasting time sorting them out only for it to fail on something majorly expensive.Now I know what's what I can run a bridging wire from one of the tail lights to sort them.Other than making sure tyres are legal/washers/wipers/horn work I never check any car before its test.

the nearside inner CV joint has sh!t it's pot full 
can't be arsed to faf with just a joint so ordered a complete new driveshaft, next day (so due tomorrow) from that ebay website that TB likes , £67 
i'll let you know if an offside rear wheel bearing turns up

Diagnosed a duff glowplug on the chipoil burner and changed it for a spare one from the parts bin. A bit of a pig without removing the inlet fanimold, but happy that all is well with the glowplugs again.
First job ticked off quite a long list of jobs that need doing to it.

Fitted new lower wishbone/track control arm/call it what you will to the V70 so that's one of the M.o.T. failure points sorted,going to sort number plate light electrics on Monday ready for re-test on Tuesday.Also fitted new thermostat,temperature sender and coolant temperature sender to the Omega as I wasn't happy with those fitted earlier this year,will have to see if these cure my concerns.

Took the Zaffy - to refill its electricity tank - for a mighty good thrashing, mostly due to frustration with stupid, slow drivers.

I must thank dave the builder for recommending the gearstick fix, as this is the first time I've properly driven it in anger, and I must say, its much better to drive now it always hits the right gear.

Despite it being glacially slow, its still rewarding to drive quick.

OK TB , you opened the can of worms , I will say what was inside 

I don't have a clue 
NOT due to ebay or the courier
the Family member who has the zafira A ordered Via their ebay account , so it got delivered to his house and he paid (and saved them logging out and me logging in/changing my address) . I gave him the ebay item number and he phoned and checked with the seller that that driveshaft fitted, including checking the vin 2003 is a changeover year , which it did  , order dispatched 

Friday I went over to strip it ready , no delivery at that address 
the Family member had sent it to the wrong address (local football club he is on the committee of and orders things for)
I don't think anyone was there to sign

so basically , an almighty F*** up

I had to phone a factor I deal with and drive 30 miles round trip to get just the inner CV to fit ,so I had to FAF swapping that off the shaft after all  , messy job

all back together but there is slight wear on the outer CV and slight rumble but no play in the wheel bearing, so I will fit the complete driveshaft and new bearing when the **** family member has the parts

Glad the bush sorted it  pain in the arse to take apart but if you take your time it's easy enough
very common problem on many cars

As transport , the Zafira A is OK but it handles shyte round corners at speed compared to My fully laden Omega
god knows what a Zafira would be like with 7 people in if you cracked on

Just fitted an aux. belt and tensioner pulley to the 190, and it no longer sounds like a skeleton abusing itself in a biscuit tin.

Mine gets a quite predictable, controllable 4 wheel drift on.  Its running on some black and round things that DTM recommended to me when he had his battlebus. Goodyear I think.

In it's defense, you saying about tyres, they are black , not sure how round they are  , or what brand 
plus , I was throwing it into corners hard to provoke wheel bearing noise (at 20MPH officer )
and i'm not a fan of the higher up driving position when driving it , which I don't do often

My omega is effectively lowered (tools in the boot, and a tool in the driver's seat  )
and handles corners much like My carltons did , so it goes where i expect it too
