A few weeks ago the alarm started going off randomly on the V70 so I removed the fuse pending further investigation, which silenced the siren but the alarm still triggers.

A quick check of the Volvo forums suggest that the batteries are failing in the siren and there are 2 courses of action:-
a) A new siren from Volvo. £200+
b) Open up the siren unit and replace the battery £25

So today I finally got round to removing the siren. When I cut it open expecting to find a horrible mess where the batteries had leaked over the circuit board, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was all clean inside.

Hopefully a new battery will solve the problem.
