Spent yesterday moding the front suspension tower on the Austin due to narrowing front suspension the lardy Omega front callipers fouled on full lock and full drop . Best bit was all the callipers are free and all the nipples and unions came out fine, not bad for bits that have been standing for nearly 20 years!

Took the V70 for MoT.It failed on a brake flexi hose and there were a couple of advisories for headlamps-the silvering on the reflectors gets trashed due to the DRL's also being the dipped beam headlamp bulb-New brake flexi hose bought[£7.79p]and fitted brakes bled up and a pass issued.

Got the Range Rover ready for its MOT & service on Tuesday.

Went to lock up yesterday, all 4 wheels off and I'm getting brake fluid at all bleed nipples no sign of air bubbles yet brake pedal still pushes straight to the floor

It is the most plausible answer.

40 years ago you would have paid 2s & 6d for a packet of new master cylinder seals and had it fixed by lunchtime.

2 weeks later you would discover that the master cylinder was scored and the new seals were shot as well so you would do the job again but get the cylinder reamed first to remove the scoring.

Master cylinder was my thoughts.It seems no seal kits are available[Big Red certainly don't have them] Were all Omega master cylinders the same or were there different types? The one on mine seems to say Lucas on it but it's awkward to see as it's partly under the reservoir.

A quick Google turned up several, both seals and new pistons LINK .


 I'm not keen on rebuilding this  sort of thing, and would only order rebuild parts after dismantling the suspect unit. That means immobilising the car for several days, and increasing the work.


Especially hard to justify when a similar search turns up new cylinders for £75, LINK

Yet another crank but no start issue on my rusty builder's van  Omega 

replaced the duel filter ,still no joy.

battery started to die which wasn't helping matters , think it's end of life ,so i will order another .

low fuel pressure  i fitted a new pump (genuine Bosch) recently

turns out there was a hidden split  in the fuel line from pump to the access plate pipes on the tank ,so fuel was being pumped back into the tank      I'd already shortened it by 40mm 

had some new fuel ilne and 8mm aluminium tube/pipe ,so used that as the bent sections of fuel line because the original hose was shaped and is NLS 

might see if another model like astra has a shaped fuel line similar available

Absolutely agree.

There is near zero chance of the body of the master cylinder being in perfect condition given the years in service and time standing idle.

It's running with the DUAL filter replaced 
if it aint broke ........
