Presumably ZF? Was it just a case of dropping and discarding sump, bolt new sump on, then chuck the oil in? Looks on mine like the filler hole is a bit of a bitch due to space...
It
is ZF, but the 9 speed, which is a fundamentally different setup to the 8/6 speeders. Iirc, on the 8/6 the filter is part of the transmission oil pan. On the 9 speed it's a kidney-shaped unit that lives fully inside the gearbox casing, so changing it is a fu€king mission.
Consequently I just changed the ATF. I even reused the plugs because I'm a cowboy. Also I'm planning on doing another change in 1000 or so miles as I think you only change about 50% of the fluid each time and I CBA to buy two sets of plugs. Filling mine was gone through the passenger side wheel Arch liner, didn't even have to remove it

A while ago my dad did the ATF on his RS6 (6 speed ZF). To refill the fluid he used a garden sprayer with some 10mm copper pipe with a 90degree bend on it shoved in the end of the rubber hose. So yeah, I suspect filling it will be a pita.
Test drove the Evoque today and reset the gearbox adaptions. Between that and the new fluid, gear changes have never been so good 👍
