Thank you for your kind comments, they are OE headlights that i modded over a few days, they have twin D2S Hid discharge fitments and led sidelights. I take some pictures of the sidelights activated soon.

are the lines on the headlamp glass a reflection or part of the design?

Looks like a reflection of a garage door, if you look next to it, you can see some brick patterns :y

The effect of those lights against the silver paint is stunning. I've seen a black Catera with them but not a silver one. Of course, I happen to own a silver (platinum over here) Catera and have always fancied those lights but thought they'd look out of place on my car. Please save me the cost of buying them and tell us what you did and how to do it ourselves. I have the under the bumper style Irmscher air dam waiting for funds to do a respray of my Cat. I already have a black mesh grille in place and would love to add those blackened headlights to the new look.

they look fantastic, although im sure there was a debate raging in one of the threads about the legality of these kind of lights... i saw them all over the place at the weekend, probably no more than usual but because of the debate on here they were attracting my attention... they look fantastic. i will have to look you up next time i'm in luton town.

Thanks, the headlights were quite simple to do, the front plastic is gently prized apart from the main headlamp carcus. Once apart you clean the chanels were the front plastic sits so the new sealant can accomadate a good seal.
Next you darken the parts you desire (not the main beam), soft sanding the parts and then applying a paint system, plastic primer etc. Although be warned, once you touch the mirror silver on the inners it will be permanantly marked, be carefull. And dont use masking tape as this will lift the mirror finish too!
Finally you can get a led strip from Maplins which you fit before you seal the headlamp again.
I'll try to take some pictures that are a bit more clearer, as there was a bit of reflection in the next week or so. Hopefully i'll take some pictures of the rears lights as they have been fitted with led clusters for tail, stop and indicator.

Hi and thank you. The modded headlamp ive created is simply a darken version of the original, it was moddified over 3 years ago and has never been an issue with MOT's etc so its an economic upgrade without any legal consequences. Drop me a line when your up this way, it would be great. All the best.

good job there, they do look good.

and its good to see someone using a bit of initative and doing the job themselves rather than buying something form ebay that isn't really fit for purpose

i did something similar with a zafira, in order to split the lense from the body i shoved them in the oven, 200 degrees for 5 mins at a time, after a few goes the goo went soft and the split with no issues  :y
