New Radio
« on: 28 February 2008, 14:27:56 »

Well, after a week of frustration, here are a couple of pictures of the new radio taken from my phone.

First of all, a slight modification to the facia

Here is the fitted radio - please excuse the dusty dash - haven't hoovered the sawdust up fully

I will post some more pics of the unit running but right now I am chuffed as chips.

Cheers,

Mark

They are as cheap as chips mate. I didn't want to pay a lot as only keeping the car for 12 months and it will most likely stay in the car when I sell it. Not only that, the previous owner had removed the Philips radio and replaced it with a non functioning 10 year old Kenwood p.o.s.

Anyway, features are:

DVD - multi region inc copies
Sat Nav
Bluetooth
T.V inc Freeview
Reversing Camera
Radio - full frequency
Also takes SD card as well as having a usb and aux in jack
3 pre outs
2 video outs
1 video in
Mosfet 4x45W

Quality of plastic equals the quality of Vauxhall plastic - probably why the colour match is so good, but it works well.

Sat Nav pics up signal quickly, Bluetooth is really very good and the DVD player is excellent.

I have a 5 channel 1,000 watt amp and 2 10 inch subs in the boot so sounds pretty nice too.

Out of interest, would you pay loads of money simply for a badge when internals are probably made by a select few companies in Japan/China anyway? It's the same as Samsung and Sony TV's.

correction, 100%

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=100919&doy=28m2

That's not the same thing as he has fitted to the dash at all. It doesn't have SAT/NAV and has many more bttons on it. The "DVD" logo is on the otehr side too.

I'm still intrigued as to what he's got fitted there.

I still want a double-DIN CD-DVD-satnav wotsit, so it looks factory-fitted. Kenwood have one that gets high ratings... but I don't have a spare £700...

Failing that, a nice Bose/ CID setup...
